Adrian Wallett (Arcade Attack) - Interview

Adrian Wallett (Arcade Attack) - Interview

November 19, 2020

Yep, we've gone all meta and are now interviewing each other! Ha ha! But seriously, Adrian has been the main driving force at AA so I (Dylan) thought it'd be nice to make him the interviewee for a change.

So, learn more about the man and let us take you on a whistle-stop tour of our journey so far. Apologies if we missed any of you in the shoutouts, we only had an hour!

Noah Falstein (LucasArts) - Interview

Noah Falstein (LucasArts) - Interview

November 12, 2020

It was a true pleasure to interview LucasArts legend Noah Falstein for Arcade Attack. Noah reflects on his career, his many games he has worked on and what it was like to work with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas in this in-depth and entertaining interview.

Noah has worked on some huge titles, including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, The Dig, Battlehawks 1942 and many more. He also discusses his work on some of his recent projects. Please check out his text interview for Arcade Attack: https://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/noah-falstein/

Weird Gaming Peripherals Vol.1

Weird Gaming Peripherals Vol.1

November 5, 2020

Oh you'd better believe there's a volume two of this! In the last of our poor-sound-quality pods (is that a term?) the boys minus Dyl and plus Kev go on an Adrian-led journey through some of the strangest gaming peripherals ever made.

The Sega Activator, Mind Link and an inflatable motorbike for the NES are just three of the treats in store. And Troy Aikman gets a good "kicking", what more could you ask for?

Super Mario Brothers Super Show & The Legend of Zelda (cartoon)

Super Mario Brothers Super Show & The Legend of Zelda (cartoon)

October 29, 2020

Hey paisanos! National stereotypes and off-duty wrestlers abound as we discuss the Super Mario Brothers Super Show, while Adrian pretends to hate the Zelda cartoon...because of the colour of Link's hair? Well excuse me, princess! And who is that making their long awaited return to the pod?

Gaming Myths Vol.3

Gaming Myths Vol.3

October 22, 2020

***This podcast contains adult themes so if there's any little-uns about you can either stuff some cotton wool in their ears or tell them they're in for a treat, up to you!***

We've now covered EVERY GAMING MYTH THERE HAS BEEN AND EVER WILL BE! Well, not really! We've come to the end of Adrian's countdown of the greatest gaming myths he could find on the internet.

A game with a darker meaning and a nasty surprise for spreadsheet users (we're not talking about you, Serco) are just two of the treats in store.

Jon Hare & Gustav Hedenborg - Interview

Jon Hare & Gustav Hedenborg - Interview

October 15, 2020

Jon Hare is the football game pioneer (Sensible Soccer, SWOS), Gustav Hedenborg is the latter day football game guru (Pro Evolution Soccer series) and they've now joined forces on the exciting Sociable Soccer. It was only right to get them both on the podcast, right?

Adrian caught up with Jon and Gustav for a lot of football/soccer chat, what their previous soccer-game escapades were like and what the future looks like for Social Soccer.

The console of a thousand names…

The console of a thousand names…

October 8, 2020

Like seriously, wtf?? So it's not a thousand but it's about twenty which is as ridiculous as its marketing. The PC Engine (as we'll call it here in the show notes) is a thing of wonder at Arcade Attack as none of us owned one. Why? We shouted "rise from your gwaaave" at Keith a lot and it worked! He's here to explain all to coincide with him finally getting ahold of Konami's mini version of the console.

So let Mr B explain how the NEC/Hudson Soft partnership came about, what made the console so special in Japan and pretty much redundant everywhere else, what the most popular titles on it are, the crazy CD peripherals and what he made of the mini. We also discuss one of the most famous Kanye West myths of all time. Bonk, anyone?

Mortal Kombat 2

Mortal Kombat 2

October 1, 2020

Do we cover Mortal Kombat too much? Probably. But we love it so we'll keep on doing it mwahahahahahahahaaaa!

MORTAL KOMBAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTT...two was quite the feat on arcade and home ports but how good was/is it? Rob's bringing the pain yet again as the boys wax lyrical about the game some say is even better than Street Fighter 2! Well, I don't say it but some do.

Lots of tales of the game's arcade birth and upgrades, the home ports, some juicy trivia and the team shouting a lot. What more could you ask for?

And for dessert go check out our John Tobias interview, MK1 pod and MK films pod xxx

Alex Hall (Ben Drowned) - Interview

Alex Hall (Ben Drowned) - Interview

September 24, 2020
Ben Drowned, the Creepypasta story inspired by a haunted Majora's Mask cartridge was a big hit among gamers. It also struck quite a chord with our Adrian who of course did our one and only audiobook on this story a few years ago.

We're pleased to welcome the story's author Alex Hall back to Arcade Attack but this time in podcast interview format! He chats to Adrian about the story, its inspiration and plans for the future as well as much more gaming podcast gold.

Evercade review and the importance (or not) of physical media

Evercade review and the importance (or not) of physical media

September 17, 2020

The much-hyped Evercade dropped earlier this year and appears to have been a commercial success but is the thing any good? Nathan's sent us a unit to review which Adrian promptly bought off him (bit of a clue how this is gonna go there). James joins us in Keith's absence for a chat about said item and also the worth of physical media in this day and age.
